Welcome to the Cerebral Palsy Info website!
I am developing this website to be a helpful resource for older adults with Cerebral Palsy
or adults who are expericing declining abilities due to their Cerebral Palsy living in Scotland.
The website is about providing peer-to-peer support adults living independently or semi-independently with
Cerebral Palsy in a safe and secure environment. I know some people might contribute to social media forums, but others, like myself,
are hesitant to share personal information online because it’s not truly private. Social
media platforms can sell your posts to third parties, which I don’t agree with.
Here are the main goals of the website:
- Share my own experiences: I’ll be writing blogs about living with CP.
- Create a resource for adults with CP living in Scotland.
- Provide a platform for people with CP to share their experiences through writing blogs, hint's and tip including positive and negative events, which may help others using this website.
- The provision of a safe space for discussion.
I created this resource because I’ve noticed that as we get older,
people with CP often experience a decline in our abilities.
I’ve also found that there’s a lack of information available for older
adults with CP. Additionally, through attending events at Cerebral Palsy Scotland, I discovered
that others are experiencing similiar changes as they age. This was what
inspired me to try and use my own skills and life experiences to create an online
space and with all of your help, I hope to build it into a valuable resource dedicated
to adults with CP living in Scotland.
I’m designing and developing the website myself, The website is still in the early
stages of development, and it’s expected to take around 1-2 years to fully come
together. (I’m still learning the ropes of web development.) However, I believe
it’s important to get the website out there. I’ll be providing a secure platform
where we can discuss our experiences and access information. However, due to the
complexities of developing this will likely be the final part of the website
to be developed.
I’ve started by writing a piece about my background in the About Us section. I will
over time share deatails of my own experiences as a person who lives independently
with his wife who also has Cerebral Palsy in the blogs section. With your help, we can
turn it into a valuable resource.
For the website to succedd I’d love for you all to contribute to it by writing blogs, sharing information about
local resources and services, and sharing your experiences and ideas. Please email these to me, using the contact details at the bottom.
